Arjopa:

Throatsinging (Khoomei) is the highest level of overtone singing. Up to three vocal overtones, produced by one throatsinger (Khoomeiji) at the same time, get bundled to form melodies and rhythms. Creedle of that ancient shamanic art of sound are the steppes and Taiga of Tuva (wellknown: Huun Huur Tu) in southern siberia, at Mongolias north-western boarder. The facenating Khoomei sound somehow reminds one on a digeridoo or a khoomus (jews harp). Khoomei is not only an ancient ritual element of shamanic invocation, it is also the most importend part of tuvan/south siberian folk music heritage. People of Tuva still live in a world, that is determined by shamanic and animistic way of thinking. To their communication with nature and its spirits Khoomei is the most indispensable tool.

Arjopa is the only female throat singer (Khoomeiji) ot the western world, wich got the acceptance by great tuvan throat singing masters (like Albert Kuvezin (Yat-Kha), Mongün-ool Ondar, Kongar-ool-Ondar, Gendos, a.o.).
The Berlin TIP-Magazin calls her “The Berlin Voice Chord Didgeridoo”.
Together with her musicans Arjopa performs a unique mixture out of tuvan throatsinging, hypnotic drums, jews harp flangers, eletronics ( all by Ulike – The Master U-like), and magic cello &, didgeridoo sounds. Wich gets complete with weird Englisch, German, Russian and Tuvan lyrics.
